Local volunteers will be celebrated for their commitment and countless hours of community service in the 2021 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards.
Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said nominations are open until Friday, 9 July.
He said volunteers have been the backbone of our community in the past 12 months and have dedicated countless hours to support individuals and community groups across the Coffs Coast.
“From our local sporting groups to our environmental and community groups, our volunteers are the hands that keep our community ticking and contribute in so many ways,” Mr Singh said.
The opening of awards nominations coincides with National Volunteer Week (17 to 23 May). This year’s theme is Recognise. Reconnect. Reimagine.
“When times get tough we see our volunteers shine, like the recent natural disasters – members of the community did not hesitate to get out there and support one and other. We can’t underestimate the difference volunteering makes,” Mr Singh said.
Last year more than 118,000 volunteers were honoured across the State. Nominations are now open across eight categories:
- Adult Volunteer of the Year
- Young Volunteer of the Year
- Senior Volunteer of the Year
- Volunteer Team of the Year
- Corporate Volunteer of the Year (Individual)
- Corporate Volunteer of the Year (Team)
- Club Volunteer of the Year
- Excellence in Volunteer Management
