Two Coffs Coast students are among 27 from across the State selected to join the first Minister’s Student Council to help shape education policy in NSW.
They are Year 11 Woolgoolga High School students Angela Poultney and Quinn Watson.
Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said the representative statewide council has a direct line to the NSW Education Minister and the Department of Education to influence education and school policy.
“I’m extremely proud of Angela and Quinn for representing the Coffs Coast and working to make a positive change for local students,” Mr Singh said.
“They’ve stepped up as the voice of students and I wish them all the best in their roles on the council. I look forward to seeing their achievements.”
Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said having a student council means the student perspective will always be in the room.
“Students are at the centre of everything we do, so it’s important that their voices are heard when it comes to policy making,” Ms Mitchell said.
“It’s so exciting to see the vision these students have brought to the council.”
