BRELSFORD PARK RECEIVES A LONG-AWAITED MAKEOVER

Federal Member for Cowper Pat Conaghan joined Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh and newly elected City of Coffs Harbour Mayor Nikki Williams to celebrate the official opening of the long-awaited Brelsford Park upgrades.

Just under $5 million was successfully awarded to the project as part of the Federal and State Coalition Governments’ Bushfire Local Economic Recovery program in July 2021.

Following the successful grant bid, Council invited community and key stakeholder feedback on design elements of the proposed plan, and after a reshuffling of Council priorities, the much-anticipated works are now complete.

“As the old saying goes, good things come to those who wait, and I know this particular upgrade has been keenly followed since the funding was originally awarded by the joint State and Federal Coalition Governments three years ago. Brelsford Park has long been a hub for community events and activities, so it’s wonderful to see the space officially open and ready to welcome the community,” Mr Conaghan said.

“It’s great to be here with Mayor Nikki Williams today as well. I look forward to working collaboratively with her and Gurmesh in coming months as we plan more vital upgrades like this one for the Coffs Harbour region.”

Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said our community today celebrates Brelsford Park’s transformation into a vibrant hub for events and activities.

“Brelsford Park has always held special significance for the people of Coffs Harbour, which is why this much-needed revitalisation is so welcome,” Mr Singh said.

“I commend City of Coffs Harbour on this impressive upgrade, which has created a lively and inclusive place where community wellbeing, culture and leisure come alive.

“I’m delighted this substantial investment from the former Federal and NSW Coalition Governments has breathed new life into this precinct, right next to our CBD.”
