BUDGET LEAVES THE BATTLERS BEHIND

Member for Coffs Harbour and NSW Nationals Leader Gurmesh Singh said in typical Labor style, this Budget concentrated heavily on Sydney areas to the detriment of our country communities.

Mr Singh said the cost-of-living crisis was strangling every aspect of regional life and the Minns Labor Government was devoid of solutions.

“Even worse, Labor don’t even seem to care about the regions,” Mr Singh said.

“Every day we see the desperation and it hurts – local families, small businesses, farmers, workers, our young people and our older residents fighting to make ends meet, to find a place to call home, and they’re getting nothing from this Government.

“Regions like the Coffs Coast should be the powerhouse of NSW but we’re being to left to languish at the hands of this uncaring Labor Government.

“Let’s face it. Life is way too hard under Labor.”

Mr Singh said with more and more cityslickers building a future in the bush and on the coast, the focus should instead be on providing the infrastructure, services and the funding required for dynamic regional growth and prosperity.

“Only the Nationals and Liberals working together in Government after the March 2027 State Election will truly deliver this economic resurgence,” Mr Singh said.

“The Nationals have a plan to reinvigorate our regions and put money back into people’s pockets through policies we’ve already announced, such as:

  • the return of the $250 Regional Seniors Travel Card;
  • our $100 rego rebate;
  • our 25 per cent Regional Infrastructure Guarantee;
  • no reductions to regional health services;
  • backing in agriculture with a $300m biosecurity and control program for feral animals.”

Mr Singh said this was just the start, with more announcements on the way as the countdown continues to next year’s poll.

“Let’s get the regions rolling again. That’s what will happen under the Liberals and Nationals,” Mr Singh said.

“I’m proud of my community and the Coffs Coast. We’re a proud, stoic and inspirational people.

“I will continue to fight, just as I’ve done since I was first elected the Member for Coffs Harbour in 2019, to ensure we have the very best right here.”
