Coffs Coast secondary school students can show off their creative talents in the Parliament of NSW’s short film competition – Parli-Flicks.
Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said the annual event is now open for entries, with students asked to submit a one-minute short film addressing this year’s theme “Should the voting age be lowered?”.
Mr Singh, the Shadow Minister for Tourism, Emergency Services and the North Coast, is thrilled about this opportunity for our local students.
“This year’s theme is an interesting one to explore. I can’t wait to see what our local students come up with,” Mr Singh said.
“This is the third year Parli-Flicks has been held. It’s a creative way for students to get involved in learning about and expressing their understanding of our democratic system.
“I encourage all students to be imaginative. Your entry can be comical, fictional or take more of a documentary style. Judges will be looking for entries that stand out from the crowd.”
Entries are open until Friday 11 August.
The winning entry will receive a cash prize and all finalists will be invited to an awards night at Parliament House later in the year. Financial assistance for travel and accommodation will be provided to regional finalists to attend the awards night.
