Gurmesh Singh MP

Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh encourages the community to apply for the next round of NSW Government grants to conserve and restore local war memorials.

More than $125,000 will be invested in the protection and repair of local war memorials under the government’s Community War Memorials Fund.

Mr Singh said maintaining local war memorials is vital as it provides a focal point for local communities to come together to commemorate and honour local service men and women.

“Protecting our local war memorials also helps our younger generations understand the importance of remembering the sacrifice of our Diggers and paying respect to our Defence Force personnel,” Mr Singh said.

“If anyone feels their local war memorial could benefit from restoration or conservation work to restore them to their former glory, they should make sure they submit an application to the Community War Memorials Fund, which opened on Anzac Day and closes on Monday 25 July.”

To be eligible for funding, the memorial must be listed on the NSW War Memorials Register.
