FUNDING FOR OUR WAR MEMORIALS

Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh encourages the community to apply for the next round of NSW grants to conserve and restore local war memorials.

Mr Singh said the Community War Memorials Fund, managed by the NSW Office for Veterans Affairs, is now open.

Grants of up to $10,000 are available to help conserve, repair and protect war memorials across NSW.

“Maintaining our war memorials is vital as it provides a focal point for local communities to come together to commemorate and honour local service men and women,” Mr Singh said.

“Protecting our war memorials also helps our younger generations understand the importance of remembering the sacrifice of our Diggers and paying respect to our Defence Force personnel.

“If anyone feels their local war memorial could benefit from restoration or conservation work to restore them to their former glory, they should make sure they submit an application to the Community War Memorials Fund before 24 July.”
