Sawtell Girl Guides have a spring in their step as they celebrate the completion of a much-needed upgrade to their hall, said Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh.
The Sawtell Girl Guides Hall at Toormina now proudly boasts new bathrooms and toilet facilities and other improvements thanks to funding from the former NSW Coalition Government.
“In February I shared the great news with Sawtell Girl Guides their hall upgrade could go ahead with a $109,954 grant under the Stronger Country Communities Fund,” said Mr Singh, Shadow Minister for Tourism, Emergency Services and the North Coast.
“This funding boost recognised the valuable contribution by the Girl Guides movement to our community. Sawtell Girl Guides are highly regarded for helping to empower local girls and young women to discover their potential as leaders.
“I’m delighted to be back at the Sawtell Girl Guides Hall to see the renovations now finished – they are already proving to be enormously beneficial for the Guides and visitors to the hall.
“I congratulate Sawtell Girl Guides on this vital revamp – it has brought new life to their beloved hall, which is at the heart of our local community.”
Sawtell Girl Guides District Manager Lorraine White and Sawtell Girl Guides Unit Leader and Grants Coordinator Carolyn Saunders said:
“Sawtell Girl Guides would like to thank Harbour Bathrooms for such a wonderful job on a much-needed revamp of the hall’s outdated bathrooms.
“This has improved access in the disabled bathroom by bringing it up to code, while the main bathroom is more modern and has a new, fresh touch of class.
“This will enable the Girl Guides to have more overnight stays in their hall.”
