Coffs Coast sporting groups are sharing $65,000 in funds to deliver much-needed projects under the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grants Program.
Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said the grants provide essential funds to assist local sports organisations increase participation, purchase equipment and improve facilities.
“For example, Coffs Harbour Crusaders Junior Rugby Union Club has been allocated $9754 for the installation of new goalposts on Coffs Rugby Park’s main field. This club is going from strength to strength with a surge in registrations this year,” Mr Singh said.
Our local recipients are: Boambee Football Club; Bush ’N’ Beach Orienteering Club; Coffs Ex-Services Memorial and Sporting Club; Coffs Harbour and District Baseball Association; Coffs Harbour Basketball Association; Coffs Harbour Bluewater Free Drivers; Coffs Harbour Crusaders Junior Rugby Union Club; Coffs Harbour Motorcycle Club; Coffs Harbour Pony Club; Coffs Harbour Volleyball Association; Korora Squash Club; Sawtell Croquet Club; Woolgoolga District Longboard Club; Woolgoolga Returned Services Club; Woolgoolga Swimming Club.
“Sport is a way of life in our community and the Local Sport Grant Program is another excellent example of the NSW Government delivering for the people of the Coffs Coast,” Mr Singh said.
“These grants provide vital funds to our local clubs which in turn contributes to improved social, health and cultural outcomes for the wider community.”
Minister for Sport Geoff Lee said the grants provide a welcome lift to communities as NSW emerges from the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The pandemic, bushfires, drought and recent floods have affected NSW communities in recent months,” Mr Lee said.
“These grants are important for the local sporting community, in particular the army of volunteers who donate their time week in, week out to ensure local sport and recreation activities are available.”
