Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh encourages Coffs Coast anglers to submit EOI’s for the NSW Government’s next Offshore Artificial Reef to be deployed off our coastline.
Mr Singh described these million-dollar reefs as stunning underwater oases which create unique habitats for fish and other marine life.
“It would be an absolute coup to have an Offshore Artificial Reef off one of our local beaches,” Mr Singh said.
“I welcome the NSW Government opening public EOIs for the location of its next reef and I encourage you to fill out the survey before 17 June and name your preferred spot.
“Schools of sportfish swarm and dart around these reefs, giving keen anglers a great place to try their luck and greatly enhancing local recreational fishing and tourism opportunities.”
The survey is available through https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NSWArtificialReefs and the NSW Department Primary Industries (DPI) website.
The new reefs will add to those already installed off Sydney, South Sydney, the Shoalhaven, Port Macquarie, Merimbula, Newcastle, Wollongong and Tweed Heads.

NSW DPI conducts a rigorous evaluation of the proposed reef locations through a comprehensive environmental assessment. These assessments include ecological, biological and socio‐economic impacts.
