JETTY PRECINCT REVITALISATION

City of Coffs Harbour Mayor Nikki Williams and I met at Parliament last week with the Minister for Lands and Property to discuss the Coffs Harbour Jetty Precinct Revitalisation.

This meeting underscored our shared commitment to rejuvenating this vital part of our city.

I congratulate the City of Coffs Harbour which last night voted to re-engage with the State Government and secure a seat at the table in these significant discussions.

Collaboration is the only way to deliver the outcomes our community deserves. By working together across all levels of government, we can ensure the Jetty Precinct Revitalisation meets the needs of residents and enhances our region’s appeal to visitors.

I have called for the Minns Labor Government, which is both the landowner and rezoning authority for the revitalisation project, to prioritise tourism accommodation over other types of accommodation in the Jetty Precinct, a sentiment also shared by our new council.

In Parliament, I have moved the following motion to that effect:

“I move that this House:

  1. Notes that the Coffs Harbour Jetty Precinct requires rejuvenation and that a revitalisation project was recommenced in 2019;
  2. Notes that the Minns Labor Government has committed to continuing the project; and
  3. Calls on the Minns Labor Government to prioritise tourism accommodation in the Jetty Precinct.”
