JUMP FOR JOY

A community celebration today marks the completion of a significant upgrade for Coffs Coast Jump Club at its Coffs Harbour Showground headquarters.

The Jump Club’s Christmas Showjumping Competition was the perfect opportunity to unveil its new-look amenities block, which includes a striking mural by local indigenous artist Nelli Gallop.

Back in March, Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh and Member for Cowper Pat Conaghan joined club members to announce $273,088 for the club’s amenities repair and upgrade project.

The grant was made under the Essential Community Sport Assets Program, jointly funded by the Australian and NSW Governments.

“It’s terrific to be back here today to see the completion of this refurbishment, which ensures the amenities are an accessible, modern, welcoming, safe and hygienic space for all users, particularly sports participants, volunteers, visitors and campers,” Mr Singh said.

“This revamp also comes with energy efficient lighting, while the vibrant mural takes pride of place at the centre of these important improvements.

“This vital upgrade has breathed new life into the amenities building and I congratulate Coffs Coast Jump Club members on the completion of their project.”

Mr Conaghan noted that the upgrade was a welcome addition to the Coffs Coast’s expanding sporting credentials.

“It’s fantastic to see well-loved sporting facilities like this one made inclusive, accessible and modernised to cater for our growing population on the Coffs Coast and ensure that we can comfortably host events like the one we see at the Showgrounds today,” Mr Conaghan said.

“The former Coalition Government on both a State and Federal level made significant investments into our local sporting communities, from major developments like the Vost Park Netball Courts and upcoming Sportz Central upgrades to smaller but just as important facilities like this for the Coffs Coast Jump Club.

“We know how facilities like these can positively impact not just local participation in sports but also enable us to attract regional and state events that bolster our local economy.

“Congratulations and thank you to the Coffs Coast Jump Club for your efforts in getting this project across the line, I can’t wait to see more events in the near future!”

Coffs Coast Jump Club board member Alita Childs said:

“Coffs Coast Jump Club is delighted with the upgrade and repairs to the amenities block at the Coffs Harbour Showgrounds. Harbour Bathrooms has done a wonderful job of making them welcoming, clean, accessible and beautiful.

“The vibrant and welcoming mural by local indigenous artist, Nelli Gallop, is just magnificent and brings a lot of joy to the space. With a fresh coat of paint to the building by Shields Painting, the Jump Club members, competitors and all volunteers and visitors to the Coffs Harbour Showgrounds are off to a great start for 2024.

“We look forward to welcoming all people to this beautiful space. A huge thank you to the NSW Office of Sport for this funding. It will make a huge difference to our community. Making it safer, cleaner, and more welcoming for all.”
