The Minns Labor Government has broken another election promise, with its commitment to boost our regional health workforce with 500 intensive and extended care paramedics falling by the wayside.
When questioned in Budget Estimates, Premier Minns was unable to detail how many of the re-announced regional paramedics were intensive care paramedics and how many were extended care paramedics.
This was yet another broken election promise from a government that doesn’t understand the needs of people in regional NSW.
Before the 2023 State Election, Chris Minns committed to adding an additional 500 intensive and extended care paramedics but we are no closer to that goal.
While we welcome the additional paramedics, the people of regional NSW deserve the same level of care as our Labor cousins in the city.
Intensive care and extended care paramedics train to a high level and are able to provide life-saving care to a higher level which is extremely important considering the tyranny of distance in regional NSW means patients can be much further away from a hospital.
