Young people on the Coffs Coast will once again be left behind by the Minns Labor Government as it considers axing the Regional Youth Community Coordinator roles in June.
Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said putting the program on the chopping block just goes to show the Labor Government’s approach to supporting regional youth is all smoke and mirrors.
“These coordinators work with community leaders, councils and not-for-profit organisations to provide tailored support and keep young people on the Coffs Coast and beyond engaged,” said Mr Singh, Shadow Minister for Tourism, Emergency Services and the North Coast.
“To consider pulling funding from this program after countless calls from regional communities, police, education and justice for dedicated programs to keep young people on the right track is reckless and irresponsible.”
Mr Singh said Labor has once again demonstrated they are completely out of touch with what young people in regional NSW need.
“I’m calling on the Minns Labor Government to commit to the continued funding of this program and prove they are dedicated to delivering localised support for young people in the regions,” Mr Singh said.
