OUR SENIORS ARE SIMPLY THE BEST

Two seniors who help the Coffs Coast thrive have been recognised with a 2022 NSW Seniors Festival Local Achievement Award.

Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh has presented MaiToumbi Zammit-Ross and Margaret Bridgman with their Local Achievement Awards, following nominations by local residents.

The Coffs Harbour electorate awards were held in conjunction with the NSW Seniors Festival (25 March to 3 April).

“MaiToumbi and Margaret showcase the qualities of seniors who make our region a diverse, active and inspirational place to live,” Mr Singh said.

“I congratulate and thank them for their generous contributions, remarkable skills and extensive knowledge which continue to benefit our community.”

• Volunteer extraordinaire Margaret Bridgman embodies the true meaning of community. She’s an inspiration to the team at Boambee East Community Centre, where she’s renowned for her ongoing dedication to seniors – she organises the weekly Chinwaggers program which includes activities at the centre and beyond. Margaret is admired for her warmth, energy and compassion.
• Dance teacher MaiToumbi Zammit-Ross is highly regarded for inspiring and motivating people of all ages to become healthier and fitter in body, mind and soul. She has introduced the rhythms and culture of West Africa to the Coffs Coast through her Afro Cardio dance classes. MaiToumbi’s limitless drive and passion help make our community a richer and more vibrant place to live.

The 2022 NSW Seniors Festival has enabled older people to engage with each other, their community, services and supports.

Minister for Seniors Mark Coure said the local awards program and festival are key initiatives in the NSW Government’s ongoing commitment to supporting seniors.
