SAVING LIVES IN OUR COMMUNITY

Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh encourages local organisations to apply now for funds under the NSW Government’s Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program.

Mr Singh said applications for grants of up to $3000 are now open under this popular program until Wednesday 27 November, but could close sooner if the funds are exhausted.

“In 2024-25 the Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program will support sporting and recreational organisations in the most disadvantaged areas of the State, or those experiencing financial hardship,” said Mr Singh, the Shadow Minister for Regional Health.

“The government is providing up to $500,000 in funding to eligible organisations statewide, so I urge local groups to send in their applications as soon as they can.

“Life-saving defibrillators play a huge role in keeping locals safe. With more and more people of all ages participating in sport and recreation across the Coffs Coast, this funding will equip our local organisations to respond to life-threatening emergencies.”

Mr Singh said access to a defibrillator immediately following a cardiac arrest can mean the difference between life and death.

“Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at any time and this initiative is about saving lives,” Mr Singh said.

The most recent Coffs Coast beneficiaries of the Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program are Woolgoolga Tennis Club and Coffs Harbour Kart Racing Club.
