A Coffs Coast sporting organisation will benefit from $100,000 in funding from the NSW Government’s Infrastructure Grants program, said Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh.
Mr Singh said he’s thrilled $100,000 has been allocated to Westside Tennis Club for its priority project to redevelop court six.
“This redevelopment will provide another quality tennis court at Westside Tennis Club,” Mr Singh said.
“This project involves the laying of a concrete slab and new, state-of-the-art synthetic grass applied on top, alleviating problems caused by having an uneven and slippery court.
“These improved facilities will cater for our local tennis playing community and those competitors who travel to the Coffs Coast to participate in tennis tournaments.”
Mr Singh said the latest round of Clubgrants funding has awarded over $6 million to 56 projects Statewide across sport and recreation, arts and culture, disaster readiness and essential community infrastructure.
“This funding is much-needed and boosts local economies by helping local organisations to continue to serve our community,” Mr Singh said.
The $12.5 million annual program aims to fund projects to build or upgrade community facilities, and the latest round was one of the largest yet in a response to weather events including drought, floods and bushfires, as well as the impact we have seen through COVID.
“These grants help to rebuild community spirit by boosting participation in sports and recreation; encourage local theatres, creative arts and museums and restore community infrastructure,” Mr Singh said.
The Infrastructure Grants program is made possible by Clubgrants Category 3, a fund which re-invests profits from registered clubs’ gaming machines into community projects.
