Community OOSH Services is celebrating a $44,400 NSW Government grant to boost its transport services for schoolchildren in the Coffs Harbour area.
Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said Community OOSH Services will use this Before and After School Care (BASC) Transport Grant to purchase a vehicle to kickstart an outreach program for outlying schools.
“This welcome funding will build on their transport arrangements to and from Upper Orara Public and Karangi Public schools to the Community OOSH Services at Coffs Harbour PCYC,” Mr Singh said.
“This grants program is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to ensuring all parents with children at public primary schools have access to BASC services.
“I’m proud this government is providing the funding to ensure parents with children at public primary schools have access to Before and After School Care.”
BASC service providers across NSW were invited to apply for grants of up to $85,000 to support transport solutions to increase access to BASC services with priority given to students in small, regional and/or remote public schools who do not currently have access to BASC services.
Minister for Education and Early Learning Sarah Mitchell congratulated recipients of the first round of grants.
“These grants are part of a $120 million funding commitment made by the NSW Government that is supporting projects, initiatives and activities that seek to develop sustainability and innovation in Before and After School Care services across the state,” Ms Mitchell said.
