A CELEBRATION AT THE CENTRE OF OUR COMMUNITY

The Boambee East Community Centre has unveiled its impressive refurbishment at a celebration marking the completion of this much-anticipated project.

Member for Coffs Harbour Gurmesh Singh said the community morning tea was a big moment for the many supporters, current and former staff members and volunteers, and organisations which regularly use the Centre.

“I know the entire team at Boambee East Community Centre has been excited about today,” Mr Singh said.

“I congratulate them on their vision for revitalising the Centre, which now boasts an improved kitchen and play area, multi-media facilities, secure storage, improved shade areas and new flooring.

“After nearly two decades serving the community, the Centre required this major revamp to ensure its long term viability and to improve accessibility, especially for people with a disability.

“Importantly, the improvements make the Centre safer and more accessible for community members.

“Everyone involved should be proud of what has been achieved.”

Mr Singh said the Boambee East Community Centre upgrade was funded by the NSW Nationals in Government with a $223,651 Stronger Country Communities Fund allocation.

“BECC Inc. would like to thank the NSW Government for financing and supporting the refurbishment. Our original plan was set back by Covid, supply chain issues, contractors closing shop and the super cell hailstorm.

“Now, the 2452 area community has a venue which is accessible for everyone with easy-to-use features such as our one-click AV set up, semi-commercial kitchen and soft fall area for the littlies, all monitored by CCTV to enhance safety.

“Feedback from our users tells us they, too, are happy with the results and are now more likely than ever to recommend the Centre as a venue to their friends and family.”
